North America Diaspora Recommends NRN Regional Representatives

NAC (Nepalese Americas Council) - NRN National Coordination Council of USA , recently held a General Assembly (GA) meeting in Raleigh, North Carolina. The General Assembly unanimously recommended Mr. Ratan Jha for the NRN ICC Vice President. Mr. Jha is an entrepreneur from Texas (USA) and is a past co-chair of the North American Coordination Council of NAC. He has been actively involved with NRN Association since its inception.

NRN National Coordination Councils of USA and Canada have unanimously recommended Dr. Ambika Adhikari (USA) as the NRNA Regional Coordinator and Dr. Drona Rasali (Canada) for the NRNA Deputy Regional Coordinator for North America in its General Assembly meeting.

Dr. Ambika Adhikari is a former President of NAC and has been a well recognized leader of the Nepali community in the US and Canada. Dr. Adhikari is a Senior Planner at SRPMIC and an adjunct professor at Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Drona P. Rasali is a veterinary doctor and works for the Government of Saskatchewan in Canada. Dr. Rasali has been long active in the Nepali community and NRN Affairs in Canada.

NAC -NRN National Coordination Council of USA also unanimously recommended Mr. Rajendra Shrestha of Maryland for the NRNA Country Representative for the USA. Mr. Shrestha is currently the Deputy Regional Coordinator for NRNA for North America, and is active in the NRNA affairs.

NRN Canada in its annual meeting in Calgary in June 2009, elected Dr. Pramod Dhakal of Ottawa as its country representative to the NRNA. Dr. Dhakal is a long time community leader and an ardent promoter of NRN Canada since its inception.

The formal election for all these positions will take place in Kathmandu and all the candidates are required to be physically present in Kathmandu during the 4th NRN Global Convention.

Despite huge geographic vastness and presence of hundreds of local organizations in the North America (US & Canada), we have been able to forge consensus with NCC-Canada as well as within NCC- USA for various positions of the ICC, NRNA. We firmly believe that, for a fledgling organization like NRNA and for the greater good of the nascent NRN Movement, consensus should be sought in lieu of contest.
