Invitation to NRN-Canada Annual Conference 2009

Invitation to NRN-Canada Annual Conference 2009

The Non-Resident Nepalis-National Coordinating Council (NRN-Canada) is pleased to invite you to its annual Conference 2009.  Annual general meeting of NRN-Canada has been built in within the conference agenda. The details are as follows:

Date: Saturday, 27 June 2009

Venue: Temple Community Association, 167 Templegreen Road, NE,

Calgary, Alberta, T1Y 6G3

Hosts: Nepalese Community Society of Calgary and Calgary Nepalese Community Association

The Conference will take stock of progress made and lessons learnt since the first NRN-Canada convention in Toronto in August 2009 and will define concrete collective initiatives to be taken in the days ahead for the benefit of Nepalese living in Canada and Nepal. This is an assembly of Nepalese living across Canada for understanding the issues and aspirations of communities and strategic planning for their mitigation or facilitation. Identification of avenues to address the issues of the community is a key motivation. The successful integration into Canadian multicultural society and highly specialized economy as well as safeguarding cherished values, heritages, traditions and cultures of Nepalese people in Canada take center stage to this program. Identifying any common concerns and developing ways to tackle them collectively and also present them effectively to government of Nepal and Canada are other matters of interest. As Nepal is writing a new constitution, gaining an honorable space for the rights and responsibilities of the NRNs is another burning issue.
